Do you clip bolts, plug cams, stack pads, or crush ice?

I love it all, each has a time and place. However, I identify most with big-wall and trad-climbing. I can't say I LOVE ice climbing, but it does get you into some cool places.

How long have you been an athlete with La Sportiva?

First year officially in 2014 but, I have been wearing Sportivas almost as long as I've been climbing!

What are some of your lifetime climbing goals?

To do it for a lifetime.

Do you have a claim to fame?

No.

Do you have any vices?

Beer and now running. Neither are particularly good for climbing.

What makes you tick as a climber and in the real world?

I like to challenge myself, that is what its all about. Its the same in "real world" projects and climbing projects. If you don't have to work for it, if victory is certain, the reward is just not as sweet.

What drives you to climb? The money? The groupies? The fame? What?

The woman dog-pile that happens every time I shout "I climb rocks!" in a crowd.

What is your favorite movie?

Apocalypse Now, or Surf's Up, its a toss-up.

Do you have any nicknames? Explain:

I guess TJ Slash. My initials are TJ and I've slashed my face pretty good twice: once surfing and once climbing.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep? Why?

I've put some big days in climbing, but honestly the longest I've gone without sleep is probably sitting at home with insomnia. Kinda lame, wish I had a better story.

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?

Idaho

What did you have for lunch yesterday?

Nails and broken glass.

Splatting

Where would you live if it could be anywhere in the world?

The Austrian Alps, not exactly world-class climbing but its like a fairy tale land out there.

Have no food or have no gasoline?

No gasoline. Coffee, donuts, and an Eliptibike will get me around just fine.

Do you wish you had sexier feet?

Everyday I struggle to tie my shoes through the tears.
