What are some of your lifetime climbing goals?
I want to push myself physically and mentally in my climbing, but I'll never let my feeling of self-worth and confidence become attached to a V-grade or Yosemite decimal. To further my knowledge and development with the AMGA. I think it would be out-of-this-world-cool to coach Olympians and walk in the Opening Ceremonies if climbing ever makes it to the Olympics.

What makes you tick as a climber and in the real world?
The drama of climbing. Grades don't matter, if you're trying your hardest and grunting your way to the finish hold you are inspiring others with your effort. And if I'm watching you my palms are most likely sweating and I'm grunting too. I love working with youngsters and coaching youth climbing continues to inspire me. Watching a student set a goal, following through with the work required, and achieving success is incredible. The journey is always the reward, not the goal itself. That's what inspires me the most.
What drives you to climb? The money? The groupies? The fame? What?
The feeling you get when you make it to the top. Climbing movement. Sticking a long deadpoint and walking your thumb over. Dynamic moves. Easy traverses. Fighting through the pump and going beyond what you think your limits are. Miguel's Pizza. The energy of a competition. Slopers and pinches. Anyone trying hard. The climbing community and the amazing people that make it so special. Summersville Lake, WV. Routesetting. And, of course, the sick profile pics.
