Do you clip bolts, plug cams, stack pads, or crush ice?

All of the above, but definitely heavier on the cam plugging and ice crushing. I like fiddling with RP's too.

How long have you been an athlete with La Sportiva?

2014 is my first year with Sportiva.

What are some of your lifetime climbing goals?

Solo two El Cap routes in a day. Climb in the Himalaya. Just continue to try my hardest as often as I can.

Do you have a claim to fame?

Not my most personally meaningful accomplishment, but I soloed the integral 'Grand Wall' route in Squamish in just under 58 minutes, setting a fresh speed record.

Do you have any vices?

When I lived at home and had access to my father's wood shop I had many vice grips. Not anymore though unfortunately.

What makes you tick as a climber and in the real world?

In climbing, I like that 'holy f**k' moment when you look at down at a serious runout and then have to commit. I like similar things in the real world to, situations and opportunities that take you outside your comfort zone. The situations where you have to make a decision, commit and not look back.

What drives you to climb? The money? The groupies? The fame? What?

I always imagined myself climbing mountains since around the age of 4, long before I ever stepped foot in a gym or tied in to a rope. My motivation is entirely innate.

What is your favorite movie?

I don't watch enough movies to have a favorite. I like documentaries though, I would recommend the BBC documentary on Chaos Theory or 'Searching for Sugarman'. Both are great.

Do you have any nicknames? Explain:

My mother calls me 'The Bottomless Pit' in reference to how much I can eat.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep? Why?

Probably about 80 hours, partying at an Electronic Music Festival. You can get away with that sort of stuff when you're 18.

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?

Definitely Indiana. That should require no explanation.

What did you have for lunch yesterday?

A ginger apple smoothie.

If you could hook up a thought monitor to your head, would you see pictures, hear words or would music be playing?

It would be a combination of music and video, involving all kinds of sports action as well as dancing synced up with impeccably appropriate tunes.

What really scares you about climbing?

Hurting myself bouldering. I would feel like a chump.

If your life was made into a movie, what would it be called?

Not sure what the name would be, but it would be very much like a combination of 'Napoleon Dynamite' and 'Mission Impossible 2'. Use your imagination.

Where would you live if it could be anywhere in the world?

Have no food or have no gasoline?

I could do without gasoline. I am an eating machine, so gasoline for sure.

Do you wish you had sexier feet?

No, my feet are quite conducive to sending. My toes get fatter towards to end and hook outwards for maximum power. They have evolved over years of hard slab climbing.
