Bronwyn Morrissey - Bhutan

Bronwyn Morrissey - Bhutan

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Bhutan to do an expedition with my husband and some other trekkers. The trip itself was a chance of a lifetime. Because there is only one airport and one airline with limited flights, this isolated country is hard to reach.

Hueco 2.0-1 with Matt Wilder

It's been almost 8 years since my guidebook for Hueco Tanks was released and a lot has happened since then. Back when the book came out, we were still riding the Fred Nicole years, and there was only a small amount of development going on in the park. Since then, guiding has increased, more people have found ways to make the system work for them, and lots of new problems have gone up. Even more surprising, many of these new classics have the same level of quality of the tried and true oldies. So it's time for a new edition of the guide.

Running the Grand Teton - 09/05/2011

Running mountains. There are lot of runners who enjoy getting out on the trails and running up to a high point before, turning back and returning to their busy lives. For many running a peak is more than just exercise, me included. I deeply enjoy running up mountains, it adds more to a run than simply traveling from point a to b, it adds a destination, a purpose. Where Did The Summer Go? - 08/24/2011

With the onset of aging taking hold and failure of joints unavoidable, I’m not quite sure what each season is going to bring. It is a fine line between training smart in order to race well or getting carried away with the training miles and intensity only to get sidelined with joint issues. It has taken some time but I have learned some valuable lessons in regard to my training and racing. More...

Hats and Handhelds - 08/15/2011

Here is something we don’t talk much about but as runners the two items are an essential part of our daily grind. Maybe hats aren’t for everyone and maybe a waistpack better suits you than a handheld but for me I typically don’t go on a run without both. What can be said about two very simple items? Probably not much, but here is my take. More...

Racing Again - Updated with Results - 12/10/2012

With just over a month of rest, I jumped back in with the first skimo race of the season at CS Irwin Lodge on Kebler Pass. Ty Newton, Lyndsay Meyer and I left the Roaring Fork Valley this morning with great views of the lunar eclipse. We hopped on our snowmobiles for a fun 45 minute sled ride to the Irwin Lodge for the 2nd annual COSMIC race. More...

Embracing Winter - 12/06/2012

Since it's cold, snowy and December, I suppose it is time embrace winter. My new La Sportiva RSR skis and bindings are ready to race and my Hi5s are waiting for some more powder. The first COSMIC race is at Irwin Lodge next weekend so I decided it was high time to actually train on my skis. More...

2012 Ski Mountaineering Championships - 01/09/2012

With winter being absent in most of the western US, I think there was a lot of uncertainty going into this years US Ski Mountaineering Championships. Training, for me at least, was very challenging due to the limited snowpack. More...

Loren Rausch - The Classics

Loren Rausch - The Classics

What I realized after introspection gained from visiting the various climbing areas is that the routes I remembered the most weren’t the hardest.  They were the moderate, long, and exposed routes that brought me directly to a beautiful summit.   Here is a list of three of the most enjoyable and classic routes I have done, where the lack of hard grades puts me at ease and I can just climb for the pure joy of it.
