Fun Run

By Bernie Boettcher

One of the things I think so many people forget is that running is fun.  Once you develop a certain level of fitness, the possibilites are endless.  I try to make room every week to simply enjoy running for what it is:  A marvelous way to get from here to there, and back again.

One of the things I think so many people forget is that running is fun.  Once you develop a certain level of fitness, the possibilites are endless.  I try to make room every week to simply enjoy running for what it is:  A marvelous way to get from here to there, and back again.

Free shower.

This past week I did a long run up on the Roan Plateau, near Rifle, Colorado.  After 3 1/2 hours of plain old exploring without any agenda, I felt refreshed, and alive again.  There's something about being out on roads and trails where no other people are seen that puts a spring in your step.  Finding you're on the same path a bear frequents can do that too.

It's not really bushwacking 'til you bleed.
Between bear tracks.

Cruising at altitude.

Air time on the Roan.

If any of you out there are feeling burned out and tired, I'd highly recommend a run on the wild side.
