The race was started in 1991, by the current race director, Fred Pilon, although there have been two other race directors over the intervening years–Steve Snover and Scott Hunter.
The race has always donated all net proceeds to the Friends of the Mt. Holyoke Range, a nonprofit organization that helps the State of Massachusetts to purchase and preserve land surrounding the Mt. Holyoke Range State Park. In addition, the Friends also has numerous programs to introduce the public to the Range.
Since the start of the 7 Sisters, the race has donated more than $60,000 to the Friends and they will continue to receive our donations. More...

Join us on May 11th, 2013 for the 13th Anniversary of Helena’s favorite trail run! This event boasts a 30K, 12K, 5K and 5K Dog Walk. All events start and end in downtown Helena, but thanks to our trail system being so nearby, all courses are mostly on trails. In addition to being a great event, Don’t Fence Me In is a big fundraiser for Prickly Pear Land Trust, who maintains and expands the trail system on which the race is run. More...

This is the first year the Boneyard Boogie 11k Trail Run is being incorporated into the Eagle Outside Festival, a two day celebration to kick off the summer outdoor season in Eagle, CO. The Festival will also include a vendor expo, bike demo area, Firebird 40 MTB race, Franken-bike-athon, & a friendly Chromoly Chef competition. Rocks For Research will benefit JDRF by raising funds for type 1 diabetes research. Admission to Rocks For Research will cover: food, drinks, games, A SILENT AUCTION AND MANY RAFFLES, a beginner try-climbing area for those new to the sport, junior and adult clinics, professional clinics, an opportunity to meet the professionals, poster signings, multimedia presentations with interviews of the athletes, and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!

The race begins at 8 a.m. in Vail Village on the paved road next to Vail's Mountain Haus and continues the ascent on a gravel trail that takes runners to the finish line at Eagle's Nest. The Eagle Bahn Gondola in LionsHead will operate from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for race-day spectators and volunteers. The gondola will close to volunteers and spectators at 9 a.m. - failure to load the gondola by that time will make it so you will not make it up to the finish. The Vail Half Marathon course starts at the Golden Peak base area on a dirt service road before ascending Windisch Way. Windisch is a steep double-track climb up to Gitalong Rd. before turning left onto Mill Creek Rd. Runners follow Mill Creek Rd. for 1 mile before turning right onto South 6, a single-track that climbs another ¾ miles through tall trees to the Village Trail, a dirt double-track that takes runners 2.5 miles to Mid Vail. Here, runners access Lower Lucy’s Loop, cross Village Trail to Upper Lucy’s Loop, & return to MidVail. Back at Mid Vail, runners climb the MidVail Escape, a single-track with plenty of elevation gain for the next 2.5 miles. At the top,runners access the Grand Traverse via Klosers Klimb. The Grand Traverse stretches through Vail’s famous back bowls alongside amazing fields of flowers with beautiful views of mountain ranges back to the finish line at Eagle's Nest near the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola. The 10@10 features both 5k and 10k trail running race distances to give everyone the opportunity to get out and race! Both races start at 9 a.m. at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain, with both the 5k and 10k races taking place above 9,000 feet of elevation with the high point at nearly 11,000 feet. The average grade of the 10k is 7 percent with an elevation gain of 1,172 feet. Both races finish at Eagle's Nest at the top of the mountain. Online pre-registration: ends at 5pm on Friday, August 22nd. Day-of registration available at the base of the Gondola from 7:30 to 8:30am. The seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's (VRD) La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series, the EverGold 11k and 5k will begin and end at the Vail Golf Club. Runners traverse along the Vail Trail to Golden Peak, up the popular Berry Picker trail to Lion Down, & back to Golden Peak before finishing back on the Vail Trail for a distance just over seven miles. Runners experience an average grade of 10 percent and gain nearly 1,700 feet in elevation throughout the race. Those participating in the 5k will also run on the Vail Trail to Golden Peak before turning around on the Vail Trail back to the Vail Golf Club.
Parking is available at the Vail Village Parking Structure. NO RACER PARKING AT THE VAIL GOLF CLUB! Runners can either run 1.6 miles to the race start at the Vail Golf Club from Vail Village Parking Structure or take a free shuttle ride, which will run from 8:30am-10am. Please arrive no later than 9:15 am for the shuttle to ensure you make it to the starting line on time!
Return shuttle service from the Vail Golf Club back to the Vail Village Parking Structure will run from 11:30am-1:30pm at the conclusion of both races and the awards ceremony. More...
