Symbios Technology

The ideal footwear for the mountains weighs the fine balance between protection, comfort, flexibility and technical proficiency.  To design the perfect symbiotic relationship between materials and design that allows the foot to move freely while still providing support and protection is the ultimate goal in footwear design.  The new Symbios technology was conceived to create a better fitting product by improving the fit of the upper on the foot. We started with a new co-molded PU and EVA ergonomically shaped midsole which provides a lightweight form-fitting platform.   Supportive in the appropriate places and soft and flexible where it counts, this midsole provides lightweight stability required for high end backpacking and trekking.  The ergonomic construction process extends to the upper with a new 3D ergonomic form fitting last, which hugs the foot and provides the best-fit possible.   The upper is designed with a 3D Flex ankle to provide optimal articulation for technical terrain and a stretch Cordura® fabric to enhance breathability while maintaining a stable platform for heavy loads.  The tongue construction has been engineered to reduce bulky fabric overlays in the gusset by using stretch materials to create a smoother, more uniform fit.  The end result is a better fitting product that offers more support and structure without using motion encumbering heavy materials as stiffeners in the midsole and upper. This creates a product that is perfect for day hikes or multi-day outings with a heavy backpack.  All of these elements work in a symbiotic relationship to create the SYMBIOS SYSTEM that is a new cross over philosophy of making boots for mountain activities.
