I have run through my first pair of Bushidos. I'd give them a 4 out of 5 as an overall rating. Pros are abundant. (1) The very snug fit is outstanding; my forefoot seemingly never slips within the shoe, and I run very technical trails. The shoe and foot are one. (2) The lateral stability is fantastic; the rigid outside lugs seem to really assist in this. (3) Traction is also top notch; it is outstanding on rock, lose scree, sand, you name it. (4) Uppers never split on the sides like every pair of Crosslite 2s I owned. (5) Finally, the shoe saved me multiple times from rolling and twisting my ankles. I never once twisted my ankle on technical trails. This was a first for any trail shoe I have owned.

Now to areas of improvement for a very good shoe. First, the heel cup could be a little deeper to prevent heal slip. Second, the center lugs in the forefoot wore out far too fast. I like the sticky material, but the lugs themselves are too short (much shorter than the lugs in the Crosslites). As such, they simply do not last long enough. I had to get rid of the shoes because of this long before any other part of the shoe was wearing out. The entire shoe seems to be extremely durable except for the center lugs (more height in these lugs please). Third, once the center lugs in the forefoot wore down some, I started to feel small rocks on the trail some. It seems that maybe the rock plate is not sturdy enough.

I am on my third pair of the Bushido, most recent version was updated under the arch and seems to hold up better in very rocky destructive terrain then the previous version. Have raced five 50k, three fifty milers and Idaho 100 in them and had great experience, although would like a bit more cushion in the longest distances. Looking forward to the Akasha, might be the perfect ultra shoe. Bushido's best feature for me is the fit, my foot holds well and has no hot spots, only one lace adjustment in 100 miles was a testament to the perfect fit.

Hands down I have to say this is the best trail running shoe I have ever own. La Sportiva continues to make amazing products. I love the shoe feels and its super comfortable. It works great from the 5k to the marathon distance and I recommend this shoe to anyone.

Wow! You guys nailed it. I've only done a handful of runs in the Bushido so far, but I am fairly confident that it is the shoe I've always been waiting for. It has the perfect mix of low weight, reduced drop, aggressive tread, AND finally some rock protection in the forefoot, something I've wanted for years. Please pass along my thanks to the design team for this one. I'll happily talk this shoe up at every opportunity.
