This is now my favorite shoe. Of course, my Crosslites are a quality number two. I immediately noticed how light these shoes are and they continued to run dry even after several water crossings. No, they aren't waterproof but they dry quickly and continued to grip every climb regardless of the terrain. I had confidence that every downhill cut would hold and this shoe let me kick it up a notch. I have narrow heels and this shoe didn't slip a bit (which was a small surprise). If you want a shoe that will let you push yourself to either a faster time or just let you take on a more technical course with confidence (regardless of your current ability), this shoe is for you too.

hands down the greatest shoe there is! its everything you want in a minimalist shoe and everything about the crosslite you love. GRIP, toe protection and comfort.
I have run 3 ultra in them now since may. I love them. the ultras were in British columbia, Montana and Georgia. I ran on snow, mud, creeks, rocks, roots ... you name it. with every foot planting I knew i could trust this shoe. I took it to the top of a 10,000 foot mountain and back.

Have run 5-20 mile runs over the past few months in these shoes and most of my comments are in comparison to the Crosslites (my favorite all-time shoe!). The shoe is definitely light and I feel the trail more. The shoe tightens better and with more adjustability, especially further down the laces. I tend to get heel blister breaking in my new Crosslites, but none so far with the X-Country's. I prefer a full finger loop, than the supplied heel tab, especially in cold or muddy conditions. Great outer fabric and toe cap is super. Sole pattern is good old La Sportiva standby which takes hobnails for winter use. I will probably buy multiple pairs. Overall an A-minus.
