Great boot I use them everyday for work the steel shank offers alot of support when I'm climbing power poles and steel transmission towers all day. No break in period but when it's hot in the summer they make my feet itch so bad I scratch them till they bleed when I get home at night. I don't know if it's something they're made out of or they just don't have enough ventilation but it really sucks! Anyway blood and all I still love them and all the stores by my house either stopped selling them or they are completely sold out!
Hope this helps and if you can help me find a pair I would appreciate it thanks!

I purchased my La Sportiva Mountain boots in1990 for a month long hiking trip in the Rockies. The boots performed flawlessly. Since that trip, my boots have seen 1000s of miles of hiking and hunting, in all kinds of weather. It's been 24 years and these boots are still going strong.

As a forester, I have tried many other brands and models of boots. The Makalu have been more comfortable and longer lasting than other boots that are supposedly made for working in the wilderness.

I have had these boots for six years and they are the best climbing boots I have ever had. As a Lineman I climb a lot and my feet are my income and after spending a day on a power pole my feet do not hurt. I am currently looking for a new pair but I can't seem to find them in the wider sizes anymore. Any one know where to find hem in the wider sizes that sport chalet and REI dont carry anymore?

Probably the best boot I've ever owned after almost 30 years as an lineman and going through several boots supposedly "built" for lineman. My feet stopped hurting, my back no longer aches. Extremely well made, rugged and good looking boot. I'm buying another pair soon to rotate them out. Thank you La Sportiva......sorry it took me so long to find you guys!!!

The best boots I have ever put on my feet! I used these boots for the entire chukar hunting season here in Idaho. Temps from 5 degrees to 70 degrees. They were amazingly comfortable and excellent for side hilling in steep nasty country. I would recommend these boots to anyone who is covering lots of miles in steep unforgiving country. Always used off trail while carrying a heavy hunting pack. Happy Hunting.
