My go-to Ice and Winter boot
I got a pair of G5s to replace my Baturas. I really really loved my Baturas and I'm always nervous when I switch to a new boot. After getting the sizing confirmed, which was a little but of s struggle for me, I ended up with the same size as all my other LS boots. I do feel these boots fit just a little bit roomier than my Baturas although in the end the performance was the same while creating a little more room for my toes which was awesome for warmth. The BOA system is working great and is very easy to tighten up and even easier to loosen at the end of the day when you want to switch to slippers for the drive home. I weighed them next to buy old Baturas and they are just a little lighter and I feel through technology upgrades warmer as well. I will not travel anywhere in the winter for a climbing trip without these new boots. Thanks La Sportiva! Perfect for ice climbing and colder alpine climbs like Mt Rainer or spring and fall climbs on classics like Mt Baker!

The best ice boot on the market!
I've been climbing for over ten years and this boot is head and shoulders above the rest. It's light, warm, dry and super comfortable. If you're looking for a technical ice climbing boot look no further the G5 is the best.

Excellent update
A spectacular boot for the intended applications. Reminiscent of the Batura, with a multitude of crucial improvements.

Great boot, performed well in Rockies
Wore these in the Rockies through some very cold days. Though I would admit that when it hit -20*C I was about ready for something warmer, and wishing I wasn't climbing, they handled everything else just great. I even (by accident) submerged both feet through frozen ice in a stream. Though everything was soaked through, even my socks, my feet actually stayed pretty warm.

So far I am impressed with durability after about full 25 days that included lots of walking.

Wet Feet
Bought these to replace the Batura 2.0 which died after years of loyal service. The boa is really nice. Boot construction and fit is great. I don't think this boot is waterproof. The Batura would leak through the non waterproof zipper and get in between the gator and inner boot. The inner boot would keep your feet dry so this was not a problem. This was really nice during stream crossings or occasionally stepping in ankle deep water. The G5 has a waterproof outer shell, but as with the batura the zipper is not waterproof. The inner boot is waterproof but does not have a gusset in the "tongue" area so water gets in. My feet got wet when I stepped into 4 inches of water for about 10 seconds.
