So sturdy!
I put 400+ rugged miles on my non gtx Akyras before finally retiring them. The shoe holds its shape very well. I found that the heel on the Akasha looses its shape and buckles inward after about 100 miles. The Akyra heel remains stiff and stable beyond the shoes prime and the tread has held up very well. I’ve had the gtx version for a month and put them through a good amount of mud and wet snow. They have performed superbly. Comparing to the Akasha again, they’re not as wide but my medium width feet haven’t suffered at all. The Akyras are not as nimble feeling as the Akasha. I still feel confident running down hill in them though, because they are so sturdy and stable. They’re lightweight tanks that are great for both running and hiking long distances in the mountains. They perform incredibly in wet conditions ass well. Not the best shoe for scrambling or ridge traversing, that’s more in the mutants realm, but they still manage well on that technical terrain.
The Akyra is a great work horse that will hold up for a very long time. I plan on always having a pair in my arsenal.

Narrow shoe, be ware
I have owned tons of La Sportiva running and climbing shoes for many years. The Akyra does not fit like the rest of the product line. It is crushingly narrow in the front of the foot. The length is correct for the size but, widest part of the foot is uncomfortably narrow. For example, if you wear Akasha in the summer you won't fit into the Akyra. The rating system above is not helpful, this is not a quality, price or value issue, its is a product design issue. A loyal customer should be able to own summer, winter, mountain, street version of shoes and the line should fit the same within size. This again is not a size issue but a shape issue. If you hold an Akyra next to and Akasha, the Akrya is a narrow hotdog shape, the Akasha, look slike a foot. The Akrya doesn't.
