meh
Dissapointed.
First of all the shoe is x1.5 size smaller. No kidding.
There is a noticeable gap between the perceived quality of the La Sportiva clothing (which is superb) and shoes (which leave mixed impressions).

Loved this shoes, but my feet said enough!
Love this shoe, this is my 3rd pair so far, and it is super light, very low drop, and fits like a glove, but the main reason I will not buy it again is because of its sole. Rocks poke in, and the sole lasts very little. Expect no more that 3 months of running in rocky terrains and the soles will become unusable. Many other runners mentioned the need of a rock plate. I agree, and change the design of the sole, having a full outer sole.

Great Shoe But Really Needs a Rock Plate!
Great shoe! But can we please put a light weight fore-foot rock plate in the next version? I rather take an ounce of weight for protection after 80 miles things start poke through and it freakin hurts!

Other than that this is a outstanding trail runner. But a rock plate should be standard.

My new favorite trail running shoe
I am going on the second pair of Helios SR. This is my new favorite trail running shoe, now that the original Helios cannot be purchased anymore. Compared to Helios, Helios SR feels a bit softer and the fit a bit more snug, but nevertheless it is very comfortable. It handles some amount of roots and rocks just fine, but I wouldn't wear it for an overly rocky trail because sharp rocks can occasionally poke though the outsole. Compared to the original Helios I really like slightly stretchy shoelaces on the SR which stay tied and don't need much adjustment. The only negative that I can think of is that the outsole wears rather quickly. Overall this is a great shoe!

Awesome shoe if you like a 2-4mm drop, just watch the sharps on the soft spots!
Overall a really good shoe if you want a 2mm drop. Everyone else is right when they say these run slightly small. I usually wear a 44, and that size in this shoe was a bit tight in the toe for the first 20 miles or so. After that they felt great. The 2mm drop, the sticky rubber, and the tread make them super responsive and fun on technical terrain. I'm grateful for their light weight at the end of long runs.

The cons: the ridges in the sole that are covered by sticky rubber are great, but god forbid you step on a sharp edge in the soft spots in between. I have an unlucky spot on my big toe that meets an angry rock once at least once a run. The toe cap is also delaminating after about a month of use.

Highly recommended for any trail running and racing.
By far my favourite shoe. I've been running on mountainous terrain and trails for many years. This is a great natural lightweight running shoe with ample cushioning. Super grippy as well.

Great all terrain shoe
Ran the Leadville Heavy Half Marathon in this right out of the box. They worked excellent. Definitely a do it all shoe. I was tossed between the 46 and 46.5 as they both had snug heels but went with smaller size, just based it on what felt most natural to my foot. Feels very secure and hugs the foot nicely without strangling it.

Don't Go Changin'
I am going on my 3rd pair of these, I have never loved a shoes so much! They have never failed me in any condition. The fit is a tad small but nothing going up a size won't fix. Good luck finding another shoe you love this much :D

Give me my La Sportiva's any day, any where, any run!!!
I started running with other shoes, then came across La Sportiva's as my local bike shop carries La Sportiva's and a local raved about them. I began running in them and instantly fell in love. I use them for road/(cement) trail primarily, with some single dirt track mixed in there, and also run my marathons in them and they are always comfortable and I never blister or have sore feet, knees, or legs. I usually push them to 400-450 miles and never notice any lack of comfort, just some tread being worn away underneath. I have literally ran in La Sportiva's for my past 9 pairs of running shoes! I only recently fell in love with the La Sportiva's even more though. I had a gift card to a store that did not carry La Sportivas so I grab a different shoe to try. They work, but seem stiff and I feel like a house when I run in them as I can hear every step and...just not the same. It could be this specific type of shoe and/or company, but they are not my La Sportivas. Give me my La Sportivas any day, any where, any run!!!

Review for HELIOS SR
Great shoe! It fits my wide foot at the toes while being snug in the heel and instep for control. The 2mm drop is securely close to the ground on technical terrain, while the midsole still has good cushion. The wave outsole grips loose dirt, and the sticky rubber really works well rock hopping. Love it.
