Discipline: Climbing Team

ABOUT:

A climber for twenty-six years and a professional for twenty years from Boulder, Colorado, Jon has traveled the world climbing rocks up to 5.14 and V14.  He has climbed over 500 double-digit boulders and established v10-v13 first ascents on 6 of the 7 continents.  Jon enjoys hanging from the side of El Capitan capturing video and photo of free ascents 3000 ft off the valley floor, climbing in the Rocky Mountains, and traveling to the corners of the earth to capture rare moments in sport. Jon’s passion is climbing in all its forms and capturing the most inspiring climbing stories and bringing them to life through photo and film while finding the time to climb his own projects.  Jon has been with La Sportiva for nearly a decade and can’t imagine another pair of shoes on his feet for running, scrambling, climbing, or big mountain objectives.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

1. Climbed over 550 V10s and harder

Q+A:

Who is your favorite running partner?

My favorite climbing partner is the one that is most psyched to try hard and get after it, either in training or on the rocks.

What is your go-to hype song?

ATM by J. Cole

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

The first product I ever had was a pair of Kendos back in 1994. They were state-of-the-art back then and I got them as a kid and they were expensive so my mom got them for me a few sizes too big so that I could grow into them.  I think I got a pair of ballerina’s as well, they were sick for outdoor bouldering at the time but that was just “practice climbing” in the early 90’s.

Which charity/advocacy organization do you support or belong to?

The access fund, the American alpine club
