Fast Shoe
Helios 2.0 is my go to racing shoe. It's light, the grip is good and can handle a variety of terrain. You don't have to pack multiple shoes trying to find the right fit for a certain course. Helios 2.0 is good in sloppy mud (it drains water very well) and hard packed surface. Being that it's a lighter shoe you won't get the same durability as beefier shoes but I've been very impressed with the miles out get out of the Helios design.

Not as good as the original Helios
I bought and promptly returned Helios 2. I didn't run in it except trying for a few minutes on a treadmill at home. Overall I was quite disappointed comparing Helios 2 to the original Helios which was probably my the most favorite trail running shoe ever (I still have my 5th pair of Helios). The problem with Helios 2 that was pretty obvious as soon as I put it on was lack of rigidity. The heel counter is too soft which would make it uncomfortable on steeper technical trails. Also the fit is more slipper like (more similar to Vertical K) which I think would make it less suitable for longer distances. I raced many 50K races and one 50 mile race in the original Helios without any issues. Also it looks like the stack has increased which resulted in less ground feel.
Please bring back the original Helios which in my opinion was a very versatile shoe for a great range of conditions. May be give it just a tiny bit more toe room and better laces and it would be a winner!

Pros and Cons to Update
With version 2, La Sportiva has improved the fit and made the shoe more flexible. It is closer to the Vertical K but not quite so slipper like and minimalist. The new lacing system works well and the fit around the ankle is softer and more snug. These are welcome improvements though I think that the laces on the Helios SR are still the best. I have run many miles with the Helios V2 these past 6 months and they are holding up well. Still, I overall prefer the performance of the first version. The previous version is a stiffer shoe and it has better rebound than this new version. I can run longer with the previous version and I hope that La Sportiva brings back the more rigid foam and sole. The first Helios was nearly perfect. I look forward to V3 and am glad that I still have a pair of the original Helios.
