Nice and light
I love the comfort of these shoes. I have put over 300 miles of hiking (100,000 vertical feet) in all weather. I used them as an approach shoe on a 34 mile round trip climb up Glacier Peak in Washington State with a full backpack. They are still waterproof. However the heels have become mushy and my feet now roll/rotate inwards at the heel. It might be in part to my pronation but I have not had this problem with other hiking shoes. Now 300+ miles isn't too bad for a hiking shoe but for the money I was hoping to get closer to 600+ miles.
I have not had any problems with the lacing system like some people have mentioned.

Just not durable and not worth the money
I was really impressed by the shoe initially and I honestly loved them. I thought they were spendy at $185 but I liked them a lot. The first pair lasted literally three weeks until a hole developed right in the bend point behind the ball of the foot where the cloth meets the front padding making it so the shoe was no longer waterproof. I exchanged these for a new pair and they determined that these were just defective. The next pair lasted about a month until the lacing system broke. They don’t sell replacement laces so I found some 4mil cord and made laces for these shoes so that I could wear them again. I hunted all over town to find a replacement for the lace system but was unsuccessful. The new laces eventually after 3more weeks wore through the fabric lace ferrels that are sown to the shoe. These are not very sturdy and seems to be another design flaw. I can’t wear the shoe anymore once again. They only lasted 2.5 months and for 2 pairs eventhough I did not wear them that often, so you can expect this hiking boot to last a little over a month!!!!! I think these shoes are great but they are not durable at all due to some very significant design flaws.

Too narrow
Too narrow. After 6-8 hours there is no give width wise as your feet swell from use.

great for walking in shopping malls
I bought them keeping many expectations; light weight, yes they are: Breathable, yes they are: Fitting, perfect: but poor durability, very poor lacing system/material: slips on 20+degree angle terrain. Sole design not as good as other back packing shoes. I did not buy them to walk on flat terrain/railway tracks!

Better lacing system, good grip sole and solid toe cover would make it great product.

Fantastic BUT
I truly love these shoes. I have been wearing them for over two years. They fit well, are extremely easy to get into and out of, great is all situations (wet to dry), and have become my only shoe except for running, safety and dress. The “BUT” comes in with an issue with the La Sportiva Company. They have not provided something incredibly simple, a means to purchase the shoes very specialize replacement laces. My laces are on their last legs, but not the shoes (just starting to shoe wear on the soles). I hope La Sportiva doesn’t think we should buy new/replacement shoes when our laces need replacing.

Dont Love Em
Wanted to love these shoes as other readers said. Design, Weight, breathable, hybrid sneaker/hiker design etc. After some moderate use on trails I also experienced some foot pain due to width - these are fairly narrow and I have a wider foot. What I realized is the GTX and exterior design of the shoe has no give / play and doesnt really stretch out like other shoes - wont be wanting them on big long hikes

Comfort, easy and versatile.
Excellent light weight multi use shoe / boot. Picked up a pair specifically for Zion wet canyon use. Held up to tons of abuse. 8 months of almost daily wear, snow removal, hard concrete - just starting to break down as a primary shoe. Just got in my replacement pair of same shoe. A new favorite. Worth the price.

The best hot weather shoe... Before they fall apart.
I will start off by saying that I love the shoes. They are comfortable and breathe great. They provide adamant support for light loads (hiked up Aligonquin in the ADKs and other hikes around that technically trail level). The grip is good on wet surfaces. Now here is the but. At $185 they should not be coming apart at the seems. I have akasha trail runners that have been put through the same abuse if not more and are holding up much better. So if you're willing to pay the price knowing that they won't last long then I would recommend them because again I loved them for their limited life.

Great shoe for moderate hiking and backpacking. Some durability issues.
I bought this shoe to use while hiking the Tour Du Mont Blanc trail. The shoe is very light and extremely comfortable. It does not require any break-in. I do like the lacing system as it allows for easy shoe removal. The shoe does have some durability issues though. The sole has peeled off on the front and under the arch of the foot on both shoes. A lot of the fabric on the shoe has also worn through to the foam underneath. These shoes are better light hikers than serious backpacking boots. I also had an issue with the heels not fitting very well and causing blisters from the pressure. I think this was probably attributed to being on my feet constantly for six weeks though.
